FAQs

Q: What should I look for in a good accountant?
A: An accountant should be more than a simple tax preparer. You need their advice and guidance in steering your business now and in the upcoming year. We provide you with real business solutions that go beyond "tax time".

Q: Do you know QuickBooks®?
A: Absolutely - our accounting staff is full of QuickBooks® experts! We even offer QuickBooks® training, click here to find out more.

Q: How much do you charge?

A: Hourly and by project, depending upon your needs and wants.

Q: Why should I keep my accounting up-to-date?
A: It's important as part of your year-end tax strategy to have a good understanding of your business's financial status. We spend the time to ensure your books are up-to-date and accurate.

Q: Will you tell me what is tax deductible?
A: Yes, we definitely tell you what is tax deductible.

Q: What makes you different than other bookkeepers and accountants?  Why should I work with Bookkeeping Services?
A: First of all, Tammy Foley, the Founder and President of Bookkeeping Services has over 30 years of financial service experience and has saved her clients hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines, penalties, audit expenses, acceptable deductions and additional ways to locate hidden money.
We are also able to service your business in multiple ways:

  • Getting you started, setting up your business and your books.
  • Providing all your bookkeeping and accounting needs.
  • Becoming your strategic partner in your business.

Tammy's expertise also allows her to guide you on your business goals and strategies.  She can discuss anything with you from your product mix to your profit making price structure, and examine your systems for possible "money leaks."

At Bookkeeping Services, we are uniquely positioned and readily available with a team of professionals to assist you and answer your questions.

Q: Do you also process Income tax returns?
A: No, we do not have the licenses to prepare Income Tax Returns.  That way, it allows us to look at each client's situation and advise them in the best manner possible giving them the advantage. We have found many ways to save our clients' money and prevent headaches by examining their numbers prior to their visit to the tax preparer.
Because we do not prepare Income Tax Returns, we are not bound to the same strict laws as the licensed tax preparers and/or CPAs.  We are able to provide you the HONEST truth regarding what is a deduction and what is not a deduction, thereby utilizing tax deductions to your benefit.

Q: Do I get one member of your group to manage my accounts and to communicate with or do I need to talk to different people for different specialties?
A: We have a unique system here at Bookkeeping Services for handling our clients' accounts.  We are able to know what work has been completed on each account at any moment.  Therefore, we are able to update any of our clients' accounts when they call no matter which team members are in the office. We do have an account manager to oversee each client account making sure their needs are met.

Q: What are your office hours
A: Our office hours are:

Monday through Friday
9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (noon)
and
1:00 PM through 5:00 PM.

You are always able to get information to us through either email or voice mail.

Q: Do I need to have all my receipts organized? I am not really that organized, I just put my receipts and paperwork in a "shoe box", can you still help me?
A: Yes, it just so happens that we love shoeboxes filled with receipts! It doesn't matter how you bring the information to us, we are able to sort and record all receipts, paper notes, payments, bank statements, and credit card statements into an organized, easy to read format.

Q: How should we communicate with you and what if it is after office hours?
A: Telephone conversations are the best for us, allowing a two-way conversation and better understanding of sometimes complex situations. We can handle many things through email - a simple exchange of information or answering questions. So email works well, too!

Q: How much will it cost?
A: We have a variety of services that we are able to bundle together for the best fit for each client. So much of our pricing is determined by the needs of that client. We have found that putting services together in customized packages allows our clients to get the services needed without worrying about varying costs. If you would like to receive a quote please complete the online questionnaire at www.WeKeepYourBooks.com under the New Client tab.

A: The easiest way to manage a payment plan is through your credit card or debit card. We take MasterCard, Visa and American Express cards.

Q: Do you ever take time off?
A: YES. Just like our clients, we take holidays, vacation and other special days off of work. We plan ahead to make sure each clients' account is fully up to date, as to not be negatively impacted by our employees time off. Also we appreciate knowing when you might be taking time off so that we can plan accordingly.

Q: If I decide to work with you, HOW will I get my documents or records to you? Will it be easy and hassle-free?
A: There are several ways to get documents to us.

  1. Shipping your documents using UPS or FedEx.

Q: What do I need to give you for you to be my bookkeeper? How do I know what to send you?
A: In bringing on a new client, we will send each client a list of documents that we need to assess the current state of your books and prepare a plan for going forward. Everyone's package is uniquely customized to their business so their list of needed documentation fits with their needs. Therefore you will always know what information to send to us. Depending on your package or services the frequency of sending your documentation to us may vary.

Q: Do you keep track of taxable items so doing my taxes is a breeze?
A: YES. A by-product of what we do when we do your books is to watch out for taxable items. We often email or fax documents to your Income tax preparer, so they have the documents to prepare for your business tax returns.

Q: How can I know that my personal and business financial information is safe with you and your team?
A: We have a "HIGH LEVEL SECURITY" policy and system to keep all documents safe.

  • We are also merchant compliance for small businesses
  • We are diligent on keeping our clients' data secure. All items are shredded by a professional shredding service with a bookkeeper representative watching
  • We use a private hosting environment that is compliant with high level of online security.
  • We take every possible step to secure the confidentiality of everything we have in our possession. Recently we were told by a PIC compliant representative that our "technology matches the level of many of the Fortune 500 companies."

We handle your information in the same way we want our information to be handled!

Q: Why didn't I do this YEARS ago?
A: We have been told that before Bookkeeping Services our clients were so worried about someone judging them. They were embarrassed with the way they were handling their records. This is always an emotional area. Well, we understand there is no judgment because...

We simply love what we do and we couldn't do it if it weren't for our clients.
